Mastering Aluminum Plastic Panel Slotting Basic Skills And Techniques

Jun 12, 2024

In the fields of architecture and design, aluminum-plastic panels have become a versatile and popular choice. However, achieving perfect slotting on these panels requires skill and attention to detail.

The ideal slotting feature of aluminum-plastic panels is precise depth, which can expose aluminum while maintaining a slight white appearance, indicating that the metal is about to be exposed. This is particularly important for thinner panels, such as those about 3 millimeters thick. Any excess plastic can lead to unwanted breakage during the folding process, highlighting the high technical requirements for craftsmen.

Factors affecting groove depth:

The change in groove depth is mainly affected by the smoothness of the operating platform. An uneven platform may lead to inconsistency, with some parts containing plastic while others do not. In addition, if the platform is not flat enough, there is a risk of puncturing the panel. Therefore, during the slotting process, careful attention must be paid to the flatness of the operating platform. Using tempered glass as a substrate helps ensure a horizontal surface for optimal results.

Choose the appropriate blade:
Choosing the appropriate blade size is crucial for achieving the required slotting without affecting panel integrity. For a 4mm panel, using an 8mm blade may cause the corners to protrude. Therefore, choosing a 10mm blade can provide enough space to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction. On the contrary, for 3mm panels, it is recommended to use 8mm blades for optimal slotting effect.

Preparation and maintenance:
Before the folding process, it is necessary to check the depth of the plastic grooves and strive for uniformity throughout the entire process. Any impurities inside the grooves must be thoroughly removed to ensure a smooth and seamless folding process.
